Examples of Supported Living…

"At Easter this year things changed…
I moved into my own townhouse…It's a place I can relax and do what I want.
I'm so much more grown up now. I love having my own place. Life's good!"

Matthew Lys in Rodgers M, Lys C & M and Cowan, L & D (2006). Not waiting: creating.
Paper presented at One Person at a Time conference, Melbourne, August 17-18, 2006.
Family Advocacy Inclusion Collection File: 11160.

The idea is not new, but as the old models fail to provide real homes and real belonging for people with disability, more and more people want supported living. There are many people around the world being supported in this way.

The examples show it is possible to get supported living
for people with all kinds and levels of disability.
